On September 12, Dubai residents will take their seats not as an audience but as a jury. The Jury Experience: The Deadly Boat Ride transforms attendees into active decision-makers, tasked with weighing evidence, hearing witness accounts and ultimately determining whether a defendant walks free or is convicted.
The one-hour interactive performance centres on a fictional case involving a deadly boat incident. Unlike conventional theatre, where audiences observe from a distance, this experience demands that participants engage with the trial as real jurors would, examining contradictions in testimony, scrutinizing evidence and voting at critical junctures throughout the proceedings. The final verdict rests entirely on the collective judgment of those in the room.
“It’s not theatre you watch. It’s justice you deliver,” organisers describe the concept.
The production has already reached more than 150 cities globally, inviting audiences to grapple with the complexities of criminal justice through a single, high-stakes case. No two performances are identical, because no two juries ever are.
The experience unfolds in three distinct stages. Attendees should plan to arrive 30 minutes early, as late entry is not permitted. Once seated, participants listen to witness testimonies and review evidence as the case develops. They are encouraged to identify inconsistencies and cast votes at key decision points. The proceedings culminate in a final verdict delivered by the jury, shaped entirely by audience participation.
Organisers have flagged that the production contains mature subject matter, including domestic violence, emotional manipulation, alcohol use and a distressing emergency call. The experience is recommended for attendees aged 12 and above, though anyone under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. The performance is conducted in English.
The venue is the Dubai Knowledge Park Conference Centre Auditorium, an indoor, climate-controlled space with capacity for 275 people. Ticket pricing varies by seating location. Zone C seats start at Dh150, Zone B costs Dh200 and Zone A is priced at Dh250. VIP seating, which places guests closest to the action, has already sold out for certain sessions.
