UAE travelers unlock premium rewards with new Islamic finance credit cards

Sharia-compliant cards let UAE travelers earn hotel stays and airline miles on everyday spending

Frequent travelers in the United Arab Emirates now have two new credit cards built around hotel stays and global journeys. Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB), Marriott Bonvoy, and Visa announced on 27 August 2026 the launch of the Marriott Bonvoy ADIB Visa Infinite Card and the Marriott Bonvoy ADIB Visa Signature Card, combining Islamic finance principles with premium travel benefits and digital payment technology.

For cardholders, the practical appeal is straightforward: points accumulate on everyday purchases and convert into hotel stays, room upgrades, dining experiences, and other services across Marriott’s portfolio. Points also transfer to over 40 airline partners or unlock curated travel experiences through Marriott Bonvoy Moments. That flexibility matters to travelers who move across multiple airlines and hotel chains, or who want something beyond a standard room booking.

The two cards differ in their welcome incentives and membership tiers. The Visa Infinite Card offers up to 200,000 welcome Marriott Bonvoy points and fast-tracks membership status from Gold Elite to Platinum Elite. The Visa Signature Card provides 50,000 Marriott Bonvoy points upon activation and Silver Elite status. Both cards carry Elite status benefits: priority late checkout, enhanced room upgrades subject to availability, airport lounge access, dining offers, and other premium travel and lifestyle privileges.

The partnership draws on three distinct strengths. ADIB contributes expertise in Sharia-compliant banking. Marriott Bonvoy brings a global hospitality network spanning over 30 hotel brands and 10,000 destinations. Visa provides payment infrastructure accepted at more than 150 million merchant partners worldwide.

Amit Malhotra, Global Head of Retail Banking at ADIB, described the launch as an extension of what the bank wants to mean to its customers. “By combining ADIB’s leadership in Islamic finance with Marriott Bonvoy’s world-class hospitality programme and Visa’s payment technology leadership, we are creating meaningful value that extends beyond banking and reflects our vision to be a trusted partner in every aspect of our customers’ lives,” Malhotra said.

Andrew Watson, Chief Commercial Officer for EMEA at Marriott International, pointed to the UAE’s travel culture as the reason for the timing. “The UAE is home to a highly engaged community of travellers, and these cards are designed to give them greater flexibility in how they earn and redeem Marriott Bonvoy points, enjoy meaningful benefits and unlock inspiring travel experiences across our portfolio of global destinations,” Watson said.

Salima Gutieva, Visa’s Vice President and Country Manager for the UAE, emphasized the security layer underpinning the proposition. “With ADIB and Marriott Bonvoy, we’ve designed a distinctive, rewarding card proposition their customers can enjoy with the backing of Visa’s security and global acceptance at more than 150 million merchant partners,” Gutieva said.

Meanwhile, Marriott Bonvoy membership itself remains free and open to anyone looking to accumulate travel rewards, whether through hotel stays, airline flights, or everyday card spending. Members can redeem points for free stays, room upgrades, dining, and exclusive travel moments across properties ranging from luxury hotels to boutique stays and premium home rentals in more than 10,000 destinations globally.

For ADIB, the cards extend a broader strategy of building lifestyle-focused banking solutions that sit alongside, rather than apart from, how customers actually spend their time and money. Whether UAE travelers take up the Infinite or Signature card, the open question is how quickly they burn through those welcome points and where in Marriott’s global network they choose to spend them.
