Golf Meets Entertainment: Five Iron Opens Abu Dhabi Venue in August
New golf and entertainment venue launches on Yas Island with simulators and waterfront dining.
Golfers and first-timers alike will find something new waiting for them on Yas Island this August. Five Iron Golf is opening a 30,000-square-foot indoor golf and entertainment venue at Yas Bay Waterfront in Abu Dhabi, bringing its simulator-driven social concept to the Middle East.
The facility will house 12 Trackman-powered golf simulators alongside multiple bars, private event spaces, and a 12,000-square-foot waterfront terrace with lawn games and a bar overlooking the bay. It is designed as an all-day destination, accommodating golf lessons, competitive leagues, corporate events, celebrations, and live entertainment under one roof. Founding memberships are already on sale, with limited availability ahead of the mid-August opening.
For Matt Csillag, Partner of Five Iron Golf UAE, the location carries real weight. “Opening on Yas Island represents much more than another location for Five Iron Golf,” he said. “It’s an important milestone in our vision of redefining how people experience the game of golf and social entertainment across the Middle East. Abu Dhabi is one of the world’s most dynamic and forward-thinking cities, and Yas Island has quickly become a destination synonymous with innovation, hospitality, and unforgettable experiences.”
The New York-based company currently operates across 20 states and 7 countries. Abu Dhabi marks its push deeper into international markets, and Jared Solomon, Co-Founder and CEO, framed the move in straightforward terms. “Five Iron has always been about making golf more accessible while creating places people want to spend time,” Solomon said. “Abu Dhabi gives us the opportunity to introduce that experience to a new audience in one of the world’s most exciting entertainment destinations.”
The venue’s position on Yas Island puts it close to Yas Marina Circuit, Etihad Arena, Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, and Yas Links Golf Course. Disney’s upcoming theme park and the Sphere, transplanted from Las Vegas, are also set to open on the island in coming years, deepening the area’s pull as a regional entertainment hub.
Inside, the space will carry a distinct visual identity. Five Iron commissioned six artists to create an immersive cultural experience throughout the venue. The installations draw on Formula 1-inspired design, Arabic calligraphy, geometric forms, and contemporary street art, with work by Rabab Tantawy, Anna Tangles, Kav Ahangar, Ibrahim Zaki, Fink 22, and Sneak Hotep. The brief was to celebrate UAE culture and creativity while reflecting Abu Dhabi’s energy and appetite for innovation.
The company’s backers include Coral Tree Partners, North Castle Partners, Callaway Golf, and Danny Meyer’s Enlightened Hospitality Investments. Together they have helped Five Iron build a model that pairs simulator technology with elevated food and beverage offerings, professional instruction, and hospitality services pitched at golfers and non-golfers alike.
Whether the Yas Island venue can convert casual visitors into regulars, in a market still finding its footing with indoor golf, is the question the mid-August opening will begin to answer.
